Project

Overview

How might we support sales and business development teams to accelorate the tranistion to EV trucks

The Challenge

Shifting to electric fleets isn’t just about buying new trucks—it’s a high-stakes business decision. Despite long-term savings, higher upfront costs and operational uncertainties made fleet operators hesitant.

Volvo needed to equip their sales and business development teams with tools that made the business case for EVs clear and compelling.

The Approach

Using GV-style Design Sprints, we rapidly explored the challenges, prototyped solutions, and validated them with real users before committing to production. This approach allowed us to:

Align stakeholders quickly
Ensuring we tackled the right problems

Test desirability early
Validating what fleet operators actually needed

Fail fast, refine faster
Only the most promising concepts moved forward

The Solution

We developed a suite of digital tools to simplify decision-making and de-risk the transition to electric. Two key solutions emerged as highly viable:

TCO Calculator – A personalised Total Cost of Ownership tool, helping operators compare long-term EV vs. diesel costs with data-driven clarity.

Fleet Analyser – A strategic planning tool, mapping fleet operations to show how electric trucks fit into existing logistics while highlighting carbon reduction benefits.

The Impact

Empowered Volvo’s sales teams with tangible, data-backed insights
Positioned Volvo as a strategic partner, not just a truck manufacturer
Laid the foundation for EV adoption, despite infrastructure challenges

By shifting the conversation from cost confusion to business strategy, Volvo is now better equipped to drive EV adoption at scale.
